Museum of Fine Arts Ghent

In the library collection more than 40.000 volumes are kept. It is primarily focused upon the Western European art of the late-Middle Ages up to the first half of the 20th Century and includes artist monographs, exhibition and auction catalogues, inventory catalogues of private collections, reference works for artistic currents (by art period and country), works of iconography, conservation and restoration, and over auxillary disciplines such as history, applied art, literature and musicology.

In additon, the library contains more than 1000 titles of discontinued and running periodicals and annual reports.
Case files on art works from the collection can also be consulted in the reading room of the library.

Practical information:

Visits can be made by appointment by telephone or via e-mail, Monday through Friday from 9u00 until 12u00 and from 14u00 until 17u00. Free access for students, researchers and individuals. The library is wheelchair accessible. The publications are only to be consulted on location, inclusive of making copies.
