New Memling On the Auction Block

The previously unknown painted panel by Hans Memling (ca. 1435-1494), which until recently was in a private collection on the East Coast of the United States, though which was discovered, went up for auction at Sotheby's in New York. Christ Blessing ultimately went for a record amount of $4,114,500 (or 3,034,438 euro). Before the auction the value of the painting was estimated to be between 1 and 1.5 million dollars.
