Book: Bosch in detail

Till-Holger Borchert (Director, Musea Brugge) has written the book Bosch in detail, the third book in the In detail series by Ludion. Jheronimus Bosch (ca. 1450-1516) is one of the most famous painters in history. The book deals with his most well-known works, which are illustrated in full-page detail. In diverse chapters, a number of themes from the artist are treated: faces, Heaven and Hell, the Four Elements, landscapes, monsters and fantasy creatures.

The book offers a special view into the masterpieces such as The Garden of Earthly Delights, The Hay Wain, The Temptation of Saint Anthony and The Last Judgement. In clear language, Borchert guides the reader along new and surprising approaches to the work of the Master from ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

The following paintings from the collections of the Flemish Art Collection are discussed in the book: Saint Jerome, The Last Judgement and Christ Carrying the Cross.
